From CJ With Love

And I am posting this from up north. I am mom-sitting again this week.

Alhamdulillah water is back in the taps; so I need not worry about rationing water or getting water from the old telaga (as in pumping, bukan angkat dengan timba ye..) Hairan macamana Taiping, the wettest place in Msia pun tak ada air. But it has in fact been raining every afternoon that I am here (twice every afternoon, mind you).

And I am re-learning old words I have not used for some time; celuih, cemuih, kareh, keluboq. And whatever else mum had said. Nak tergelak pun ada.

But most of the time, I am just keeping mum company. And most importantly cepat2 menyahut whenever she calls (fyi she had call me Ida, Jiah atau nama2 sisters lain yang dia teringat masa tu) - she's a teeny bit worried if she's home alone (as if she ever were). Dan mendengar cerita lama mak, like when arwah ayah masuk meminang (how sweet).

She loves reading (she will hit 90 this year and is still an avid reader; sesetengah kawan terkejut bila mendapat tahu mak saya masih membaca dan until recently masih menjahit sendiri baju kedah yang dipakainya).

Dan juga menjenguk garden mak yang sudah lama terbiar; although her flaming red amaryllis was timelessly gorgeous after the afternoon rain.

Syukran.

Time Out

Kata Iman - mama, minggu ni kita gi breakfast/brunch di Acme ok? Kata hubs, I think she's the one who wants to eat there (takut nanti cucu meleleh air liur..) And I am always game for something new.

The restaurant is a place in Troika within the KLCC area. It has got glass walls with shady trees outside. It reminded me of conservatories that I see in English homes. Love. And I said to hubs, we should retire to the kampung where there is more space and can we have something like this (dreams are good for the soul, did you know?)

The decor was flawless. We even love the bilik air (I wont post the photos that were taken there though).

The food was beautifully presented. We had minute steak with gorgeous portobello mushroom and sunny side ups. It's not something you cant make at home, really. But the place makes the act of eating all that much better.

I think we should return. The place was absolutely captivating.

ps - You need reservations. The place is almost always packed.

Life In The Slow Lane

It has been a dispirited week. You can also call it depressing. Unsettling. Sombre. Like crap.

The weekend was lovely though. We had lunch at Friday's (too bad I've got no photos to share. Everyone was there - except Umar) and shop a bit at M&S and Isetan. With a quick stop for sandwiches at Obrien's.

But Monday was bad. Although I wont call it monday blues (a cliché I have an aversion to..) Material Girl cant brighten up the morning drive even a notch. And I swayed between being sluggish, inanimate, wimpy and moody throughout the day.

Unfortunately Tuesday turned out melancholy and mopey. But things are picking up; albeit slowly.

And I am breaching my very own blogging principles of strictly no whining on-line.

Anyway. I have photos to share -

Fallen flowers amongst morning dew on the office lawn.

The taps are dry today. So dinner was a no-brainer mac-and-cheese.

And I had a big laugh when I first saw this photo (and laugh some more every time I look at it).

(So what am I yapping about, right?)

Rahmat

Saya terbaca ~

HR Muslim; 4947
