Apa lah saya seorang nenna jika tak share gambar cucu2 saya.. (dan kemudian saya ketawa besar selepas menaip ayat ini!)

Ini gambar Sara masa naik kereta dan terkena aircond. Langsung tertidur lepas nih.

We decided to give Umar a bath - sukanye dia mandi! (tapi atuk dan nenna dia lagi suka rasanya)

Biar Sempurna Dalam Lindungan Allah

My adik is one of the most awesome persons I have ever known. Seriously.

He sent these photos when he was home in Ramadhan and went to tinjau2 and pick fruits at the kebun.

He is committed to his work, his family, his deen (there could be faults I am sure but none that I can see).

But most importantly he is most compassionate to mum. Mak saya sentiasa tenang bila dia ada di rumah.

This post is for my mum actually; but then I guess to my adik too.

Thoughts of the Morning

Have a great weekend. What are your plans? I am baking today. Ada kawan minta buatkan lasagna for her daughter's engagement aka raya makan2. I am making for her some kuih bakar as well. So i've got a lot to do.

And tomorrow we are having a bbq makan2 at home.

Enjoy your weekend. Dan yang terbaik antara kita adalah yang paling bertaqwa.

Beautiful Pictures (and Stories)

I found these beautiful images from an MCMC broadband promo video. I do apologize for the quality of the pictures, but they are too good not to share.

 These are from a kapok industry. Teringat masa kecik mak suruh kait dan kutip kekabu untuk bantal.

And these from a seaweed farmer in Sabah. (Reminds me of kawan2 Ilyas yang mencebur dalam industri ni di Sandakan / Semporna but came back home after a couple of years. The locals sometimes ambushed their crops. But I do admire their courage and persistence).

I wish I could share the videos with you but they are posted on the company's internal website. Cerita dari hidup susah until they become successful entrepreneurs.

Baby Photos Part 4 - Beraya

I seriously wish we have better raya photos; especially as this is our first raya with the babies.

Sara dan baju rayanya - gaya bajjet. Orang kata dia kecik; in fact baju tu yang besar sebenarnye (tapi sebab mak dia nak pakaikan jugak baju tu untuk raya kan..It was a present actually)

 Ini sebenarnye gambar Umar dan baju Melayu hijau nye. It was made with soft cotton and looked so comfy. It was raining - at least there were tiny drops of water falling from the sky - and baju Umar pun tak nampak.

So as a compensation I had to put this gambar of Umar. He was Superman for the day and balik kampung asyik sangap aja. Kata Umi, dia letih sebab kena pergi save ramai orang hari tu.. (I love his six pack and in fact, if I may say so, I havent seen a more dashing Superman than him!)

Ayah Chu and the babies. Do not think his rambut is serabai sebab kena babysit the nephew and niece. Nope. His hair is always like that (although he does the babysitting occasionally). Baju Umar tu nenna yang belikan. Terkecik sebenarnye but I had thrown the receipt away ke mana entah dah. Zuf in fact went back to the store to get the same shirt but in a bigger size. Lesson learnt : keep the receipt and make sure the babies try the baju immediately after purchase.

A raya selfie - Sara pun nak senyum sama (mata pun dah tak nampak. And now I know whose eyes she has got, tengoklah mata mak dia).. turned out that we chose outfits in the same shade.

Samping Tips - Did You Know?

I didnt know this actually until now.

Sempena bulan raya ni elok jugak kita belajar pasal nih..

I always thought it is 'sampin' - terlupa pulak di utara we always drop the g at the end of the word; eg kunin bukan kuning; dan penin bukannya pening.. J

And maybe you want to make sure your man is wearing his samping right (and be aware if he is purposely not wearing it right!) JJJ

Selamat Menyambut Kemenangan

Selamat Hari Raya. I hope it has surpassed all your raya expectations. Mine has been somewhat off-key. Nonetheless, as always, I have photos to share if you'd like to see.

I found pretty lantern-lights at Typo (we hung them on with masking tape actually); I love the effects the lights have.

Pretty pastel selendangs shared by Fatin for raya. On fb only. In fact I havent seen these in the shops.

 Raya di rumah atok (these is a couple of the few gambar we took this raya. We were camera shy this eid).

Kalau harapkan humor anak2 - I said, could you please write raya menu on the chalk board? And this is what I get.

 He was in Makkah for the last days of Ramadhan and on Eid.


Bergembiralah seadanya di hari kemenangan. Doa untuk Palestin dan balasan Allah untuk kaum yang zalim.

From Jubail (With Love)

Our bachelor sent us this. He wanted to show that it is >30˚C at 3:00am where he is at. He is now in Saudi, on a year stint at a petro-chemical company. After graduated he threw caution to the wind and said I am going to work in Saudi ma. And I said ok, go for it.

So it is going to be his first raya away from home. Mungkin akan beraya di Makkah tahun ini he said. And I thought, MasyaaAllah (can I come too?)

(everybody asked us where Jubail is..)


And on a lighter note --

Much earlier we cyber-stalked him and found his photos on instagram. We matched his ray-ban photo with one of Cruise's in aviator shades.. haha

(I had fun concocting this up and then sharing it on whatsapp with the kids. But just between you and me, in fact I think they look like langit dan bumi!)

I have (more) baby photos to share (it is either about babies or food).

This is a somewhat old photo. Rambut Umar dah makin lebat; especially yang di tengah kepala. So instead of Dennis the Menace we have Umar the Manis.. haha

Sara pakai baju pink saja terus manis.

Suka facial expressions Umar. But Sara cant care any less; tidur saja.

A Pre Ramadhan Story

(I am seriously backdated in this space!)


We were at the place called Berkat Madinah recently looking for Ramadhan stuff. Kata Aida, Chef Ammar cari barang2 dapur di situ.

Alang2 kami di ayam penyet Wong Solo Ampang (seriously sedap; of course la masa tu belum Ramadhan kan) lalu terus ke kedai Arab ni. The shop was small-ish; compared to the Suria place in Jalan TAR / Chowkit.

Kami mencari kurma medjoul sebenarnya, lalu terjumpa sesuatu yang tak pernah jumpa di Malaysia...

Kepala kambing! Lalu teringat baked kepala kambing di US dulu (masa makan ternampak yang masih ada rumput di celah gigi kambing!! Eeewwww..) Hubs said, I might buy the kepala kambing of these days (and I went like, NOOOOOO..)

And found a recipe book that I just had to buy (and yeay, we have new recipes to try! I like the baked lamb leg..)

ps - yes, we checked the Jericho medjoul dates we bought is not from Israel (I looked up again the article on the dates but it is no longer there. I was going to share that..)

Ramadhan Snippets

Kata ustaz, salah satu kesilapan yang kita buat adalah menganggap berbuka puasa itu sebagai makan malam. Sedangkan Rasulullah berbuka puasa dengan tiga biji kurma sahaja.

Ramadhan adalah bulan diturunkan alQuran. Malah kata ustaz setiap kitab termasuk suhuf Musa, Zabur dan lain2 semuanya diturunkan dalam bulan Ramadhan. Bukan setakat alQuran shaja. Begitulah mulianya Ramadhan.

Ramadhan juga merupakan bulan untuk menikmati ibadah. Sembahyang tarawih juga sepatutunya dibuat dengan santai. Kata ustaz, kalau jemaah harian kita membuat tarawih tergopoh-gapah, cari masjid lain yang lebih tenang. Kuantiti tidak melebihi kualiti.  

Semak kembali dengan hati, apa sebenarnya yang kita cari Ramadhan ini. Is it like any other normal days? Apa tujuan Ramadhan sebenar. Versus bagaimana kita menghayati Ramadhan itu.  

Antara perkara yang boleh dibuat untuk menjiwai Ramadhan adalah membaca teks yang berkaitan. Ini salah satu website yang agak lengkap.
